Never Say Never · 20 September 2012
It seems that whenever we say we will never do something, we inevitably do it. I must have said I would never give up meat.
I probably said it after eating a juicy prime rib. Or more likely I said I could never give it up after finding out somebody was vegan. I am not saying I will never eat meat again, but I do not have any compelling reason to have much of it anymore. There just seems to be too much evidence out there saying that a whole food, plant-based diet is the way to get and stay healthy. Like I said yesterday, I am still investigating the amino acid conundrum, but even with just a little research, I know I can get all the nutrients I need from plant-based sources (and maybe a little dirt).
I know this post is extremely short and leaves more questions than answers, but that is the way it needs to be. We all need to make choices in life. What we eat is certainly the biggest part of our health so we ought to make informed decisions about what we put into our bodies. I cannot tell you what to eat and I cannot do everybody’s research. After all, I am just telling my own story. But if your story is anything like mine and you do even a little research, you might give up meat (and dairy too). Whatever you do though, do not say “never.”
