Overeating · 22 September 2012

Yesterday I seemed to have eaten a ton of food, but somehow it felt different than it used to feel.

I think it is more difficult to overeat when eating almost vegan. Without meat, the food does not just seem to sit in your belly. I remember eating too much meat, having a distended belly, and feeling huge. Then came the feeling of misery. I used to lament like the guy in the old antacid commercial, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing.”

Yesterday, I kept eating all evening. I did not do any extra exercise or anything, I just wanted more food. I had that distended stomach of old, but it felt different somehow. I was not miserable. Just full. Even this morning, I was ready to eat rather than wondering if I really needed to have breakfast like I used to do the morning after overindulging my palate.

I know my problem comes from not grazing enough. I have been letting too much time go between eating. I know having little snacks more often throughout the day are much better for me than having a few big meals. Still, I have found that I do not overeat as often and I do not feel the after effects as drastically as I used to before eating almost vegan.

When it comes right down to it, I would rather not overeat at all. But if it does not come with indigestion or remorse, I can handle overeating every once in a while. Like I did yesterday.
