Still Just Singin' the Blues · 4 July 2003
We’ll start out jammin’ rock and roll – how ‘bout some “Back in Black”
Then someone will play the baseline from Michael Jackson’s “Bad”
We’ll play a little Elvis and a country song or two
But when my guitar starts to playin’ it plays songs about you
And all it wants to play is the blues.
Chorus 1:
Play that melody
Play it loud and strong
Then add a little bass line
We’ll play it all night long
Play some rock, some country,
Or some “Blue Suede Shoes”
But by the time we finish
We’ll all be playin’ the blues.
No matter what we’re playin’
We’re still playin’ the blues
We’ll sing a little gospel with four-part harmony
Then someone will bust out with a solo or three
But as the night goes on my heart starts singin’ too
And all it wants to do is sing about you
Then all I want to sing is the blues
Chorus 2:
Sing that melody
Sing it loud and strong
Then add a little harmony
We’ll sing it all night long
Sing some rock, some country,
Or some “Blue Suede Shoes”
But by the time we finish
We’ll all be singin’ the blues.
No matter what we’re singin’
We’re still singin’ the blues
When I sit down with my guitar to write a country song
Sometimes I have to sit there and write it all night long
But no matter what I’m writin’, my mind always turns to you
Then every word I write is all about you
And all I want to write is the blues.
Chorus 2
